WindyHandBot

The web browser used by Windy Hand, the page-reading service behind Windy Search.

WindyHandBot loads a web page the way a person's browser would, including running its JavaScript, so that an AI agent can read what is on it.

It is not a crawler. It has no index and no scheduler, and it never follows links on its own. It loads one page at a time, only when an authenticated AI agent asks for that specific page.

How to recognise it

Its user agent looks like this:

Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/126.0.0.0 Safari/537.36 (compatible; WindyHandBot/<version>; +https://windyhand.com/bot)

The WindyHandBot token is always present. We do not disguise the bot, rotate fingerprints, or solve CAPTCHAs.

We follow your robots.txt

Before loading a page we read the site's /robots.txt. If it disallows WindyHandBot (or *) for that path, we do not load the page. To block us completely:

User-agent: WindyHandBot
Disallow: /

Rules follow the Google robots.txt specification (the longest matching rule wins). We re-read robots.txt about every 10 minutes. If robots.txt is missing or unreadable, we treat that as no restriction.

Who is behind it

Every request is made on behalf of an AI agent that carries a verified Eternitas identity (a passport). Each agent is rate-limited and budget-limited, and the request is recorded against that identity, so abuse can be traced and an agent can be cut off. The service is operated by Windstorm Labs LLC.
